Applications of grit types Among the main requirements of an abrasive grit are ultra-hardness, ultra-durability, heat resistance and thermal conductivity Applications differ according to the characteristics of individual properties. These can be influenced by the type of bond, the abrasive backing and additives. Different types of grit can be for general use, however, the following options hold true: Aluminium oxide: Suitable for roughing, cutting, freehand grinding, belt grinding, cleaning and deburring of unalloyed and low-alloy steel, cast iron and non-ferrous metal.

Zirconia alumina: Suitable for roughing, cutting, freehand grinding, high-performance belt grinding, cleaning and deburring of steel and cast iron. Silicon carbide, black: Suitable for roughing, cutting, freehand grinding and belt grinding grey iron, aluminium, wood and paint. Silicon carbide, green: Suitable for all grinding on grey cast iron, hard metal, stone, titanium alloys, synthetics and ceramics.

Fleece abrasive band

KV707X Design: Resin-bonded fleece with aluminium oxide grain (A), on flexible fabric. Excellent grit friction, long life, minimal pressure and good flexibility. Water and emulsion-resistant. Application: For work with alloyed and non-alloyed steel and non- ferrous metals on belt sanders. Ideal for removing rust and old paint as well as for finishing surfaces.

Fibre grinding wheel, aluminium oxide

KF787 Design: Resin-bonded aluminium oxide grain (A) on tear-proof, thick, vulcanised fibre backing material uniform and light, open. Excellent grit friction, long life, minimal pressure and good flexibility. With centre hole (standard bore 22.23 mm) and cross slots. Application: Universal product for work with non-alloyed steel and non-ferrous metals on angle and disc grinders and abrasive heads on flexible shafts. For all angle grinders with backing pads of max. 80 m/s peripheral speed. Ideal for working with containers, cast parts, body parts etc. Note: For rubber backing discs see Ç 8/30.
